| General Introduction | Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sinopec) is a holding subsidiary of Sinopec, located in Jinshan District, Shanghai. It is one of the largest integrated refining and chemical enterprises in China and an important production base for refined oil, intermediate petrochemical products, synthetic resins, and synthetic fibers in China. The predecessor of Shanghai Petrochemical was the Shanghai Petrochemical Plant, which was founded in 1972. In 1993, after the standardized reform of state-owned enterprise shareholding system, Shanghai Petrochemical became the first limited liability company in China to list its shares simultaneously in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and New York. In 2013, the company completed the split share reform work. At present, the total share capital of Shanghai Petrochemical is 10.824 billion shares, of which 7.329 billion domestic RMB ordinary shares (A-shares) account for 67.71% of the total share capital; 3.495 billion foreign shares (H-shares) were listed overseas, accounting for 32.29% of the total share capital. China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation holds 5.46 billion shares (A shares), accounting for 50.44% of the total share capital. The development of Shanghai Petrochemical has gone through six stages of large-scale centralized construction. By the end of 2017, Shanghai Petrochemical had a comprehensive crude oil processing capacity of 16 million tons per year and a production capacity of 700000 tons per year for ethylene, 4.28 million tons per year for organic chemical raw materials, 1 million tons per year for plastic resin, 1.09 million tons per year for synthetic fiber raw materials, 590000 tons per year for synthetic fiber polymers, and 260000 tons per year for synthetic fibers. It also had independent public engineering and environmental protection systems, as well as supporting facilities for maritime, inland waterway, railway, and highway transportation. The main products of Shanghai Petrochemical are divided into four categories, among which petroleum products include gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, etc; Chemical products include: ethylene, propylene, butadiene, pure benzene, p-xylene, purified terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol, ethylene oxide, vinyl acetate, C5, etc; Synthetic resin and synthetic fiber polymer products include: polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, polyvinyl alcohol, etc; Synthetic fiber products include: acrylic fiber, polyester staple fiber, polyester filament, etc. At present, Shanghai Petrochemical is following the 13th Five Year Plan and industrial layout of Sinopec, closely focusing on the five development strategies of "value leading, innovation driven, resource coordination, open cooperation, and green and low-carbon", effectively establishing the concept of "challenging advanced levels and aligning with the highest standards", accelerating the pace of transformation, structural adjustment, quality and efficiency improvement, and striving to build a "domestic leading and world-class" refining and chemical enterprise.
