| General Introduction | Shenzhen Airport Co., Ltd. is the operation and management organization of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. Located on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is 32 kilometers away from the urban area of Shenzhen. It is a modern large international airport integrating sea, land, air and rail transport in China. Shenzhen Airport was officially opened to traffic in October 1991, became an international airport in May 1993, and became the fourth largest airport in China in 1996. It was one of the first airports in China to be built by local governments and operated locally, and was one of the earliest airports in China to achieve market-oriented and enterprise management in civil aviation. Shenzhen Airport covers a total area of 28.3 square kilometers, with three runways, three terminal areas, and one satellite hall planned for the terminal, meeting the long-term passenger throughput of 100 million people and the business volume demand of 2.6 million tons of cargo and mail in the near future target year (2030) and 4.5 million tons in the long term target year (2050). At present, Shenzhen Airport has two long-distance parallel runways that can accommodate all civil aviation aircraft types for takeoff and landing.
